We are searching for a Contracts Buyer that enjoys working within a ‘best practice’ environment and would relish the challenge and autonomy this position presents.
THE ROLE
The Contracts Buyer is responsible to be successful in their role, and must have a clear understanding of Policies, Procedures, and the Company Objectives to implement and comply with them.
Responsible for sourcing, negotiating, and procuring goods, materials, and services to meet the company’s operational requirements, the Contracts Buyer ensures the ethical and best practice procedures are adhered to with all aspects of purchasing and contract management.
- Acts as ‘super user’ on procurement systems including the co-ordination of SAP Materials Management.
- Responsible for developing and executing the procurement plan and advises users of PO/contract expirations.
- Ensures best practice is maintained by aligning with Procurement procedures.
- Ensures compliance with financial authority limits for preparation and approval of the bidders list, summary sheet recommendations and purchase order/contracts.
- Reviews purchase requisitions for completeness and clarity of scope of work, technical specifications, and standards, and follows-up as appropriate.
- Drives the approval process for issuance of Enquiry / Tender and award of Purchase Order / Contract.
- Reviews Terms & Conditions and negotiate with vendors for contract preparation ensuring value for money and the Company is protected.
- Responsible for executing and expediting Purchase Orders/Contracts.
- Processes post-order amendments on scope, prices, and delivery with due approvals.
- Co-ordinates with Departments on vendor master maintenance and data input records.
- Responsible for identification of new stock items for inclusion in Price Agreements.
- Responsible for consolidation of materials and services and implementation of procurement best practices for efficiencies and cost reduction.
ABOUT YOU
- Educated to degree level (or equivalent) with a proven ability to function at that level
- Member of the Chartered Institute of Procurement and Supply (CIPS)
- Significant experience of Procurement Contract Management
- Extensive experience in the procurement and supply process
- Experienced in project management
- Good knowledge and experience of working within SAP
- Experience of working in similar role within the Oil & Gas industry
- Experience of applying strong negotiation tactics
- Excellent organisational skills
- Ability to understand detailed information
- Strong ability to identify improvements and solutions
- Strong IT skills required to manage contract management systems
- Be able to juggle a varied and busy workload
- Strong interpersonal skills and approachable
