Job Title: Housing Officer
Job Type: Temporary – two months
Hours: 08:30 to 16:30 (Monday to Thursday) 08:30 to 16:00 (Friday) 34.5 hours per week (1 hour lunch break) 4 days in the office / 1 day Working from home (Tuesdays)
Pay: £17.84 – £20.07 per hour

Sunny are looking for a proactive Housing Officer to join our clients dedicated team. You will deliver a high-quality, resident-centered housing management service, ensuring communities remain safe, well-maintained, and supported.
Responsibilities:
- Maximise the Association’s rental income by monitoring accounts and taking timely action to prevent debt. You will manage the recovery process from early intervention through to preparing court applications and attending hearings when necessary.
- Lead on all aspects of the tenancy lifecycle, including sign-ups, successions, and mutual exchanges. You will conduct regular estate inspections and “walkabouts” to ensure schemes are safe, well-maintained, and compliant with landlord responsibilities.
- Provide expert advice on welfare benefits, Universal Credit, and budgeting to help residents manage their finances. You will work closely with external agencies to signpost vulnerable residents to the support they need to successfully maintain their tenancies.
- Minimise rent loss by ensuring a fast turnaround of empty homes. This includes conducting pre-void inspections with the maintenance team, allocating properties from the housing register, and carrying out viewings with prospective tenants.
- Investigate and resolve complaints of ASB and harassment using a problem-solving, multi-agency approach. You will maintain detailed case records, coordinate with the Police and Social Services, and take enforcement action to ensure our communities remain safe.
About you:
- Previous experience as a Housing Officer (or similar) within a Housing Association or Local Authority.
- You’ll have strong knowledge of housing policies, procedures, and income management.
- An adaptable professional ready to embrace digital tools and agile working.
- A full driving licence and access to your own vehicle is essential
