Pay: £16.66 per hour plus holiday pay

Temporary Payroll Opportunity – Immediate Start Available
Sunny Recruitment is currently recruiting for an experienced Payroll Officer / Payroll Administrator to join a well-established regional organisation in Carmarthen on a temporary basis.
This role will support the delivery of accurate payroll processing, ensuring employees are paid correctly and on time while maintaining compliance with PAYE, National Insurance, pensions and UK payroll legislation.
Immediate start available – candidates with payroll experience who are available at short notice are encouraged to apply.
The Role
As Payroll Officer, you will play an important part in ensuring smooth payroll operations while maintaining high standards of accuracy and compliance.
Key responsibilities include:
- Processing payroll and ensuring timely and accurate salary and expenses payments
- Ensuring all payroll activity complies with financial regulations and internal procedures
- Carrying out payroll checks and spot audits to ensure calculations and coding are accurate
- Managing staff movements such as promotions and grade changes within the PeopleXD system
- Liaising with HR to ensure employee changes are reflected correctly within payroll
- Maintaining accurate records for statutory absences and ensuring pay adjustments follow legal requirements
- Ensuring payroll data remains compliant with PAYE, National Insurance, pensions and UK legislation
About You
We are looking for a highly organised and detail-focused Payroll professional who can manage a busy workload and meet strict payroll deadlines.
You will ideally have:
- Experience in end-to-end payroll processing
- Previous experience as a Payroll Officer, Payroll Administrator, or Payroll Assistant
- The ability to manage high-volume payroll workloads accurately
- Strong knowledge of PAYE, National Insurance and GDPR
- Experience working within a large organisation or public sector environment (desirable)
- Knowledge of statutory pension schemes, such as Local Government pensions (advantageous)
