Job Title: Transport Planner
Location: Cross Hands, Carmarthenshire
Job Type: Permanent basis
Salary: £27,500 – £30,000
Hours: 7am-5pm
As Transport Planner you will be planning and coordinating the movement of people and goods between our clients sites. You will have the ability to juggle multiple tasks and coordinate with several different departments to ensure that all of the necessary paperwork is in order before arranging deliveries/collections from one place to another
Responsibilities:
- Ensuring all relevant data is processed using weighsoft system, in an accurate and punctual manner, in order to maintain accurate data which assists internal invoicing processes
- Liaise with the transport director, making sure transport compliance is always the highest priority
- Overseeing operations logistics of vehicular movement to service customers.
- Maintaining records of deliveries and pickups, including vehicle mileage and fuel usage.
- Scheduling drivers’ work hours and routes to ensure they comply with current DVLA/DVSA regulations.
- To be aware of, and conversant with, relevant details of the waste management permit, integrated management system, risk assessments, COSHH assessments, emergency procedures and other relevant health and safety and environmental documents as directed
- Acting as first point of contact for any vehicles to resolve any issues/problems with truck maintenance and delivery/collection of goods
- Coordinating with other departments to ensure that all transportation needs are met
- Ensuring safety standards are met by drivers and vehicles
- Coordinating the delivery of the load from one place to another as required.
- Communicating with customers about their deliveries and collections to ensure that they are aware of any delays in arrival times or issues with their orders.
- Coordinating with clients to arrange pickup and delivery of deliveries or collections.
- Resolving customer concerns about transport issues.
- Establishing relationships with carriers and freight brokers to ensure that high-quality service is provided
- Carry out any other duties within your skill set and capability as allocated to you by your line manager
Requirements:
- Must hold a UK Driving License.
- Adaptability
- Excellent with customers
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Able to self-manage
- Flexible to deliver the role to the best of your ability.
- Prepared to do extra hours as required.
- Computer literate.
- HGV licence desirable
- CPC Road Haulage desirable
- GCSE or equivalent desirable
