Our client are within the Oil & Gas industry, located in the beautiful coastal area of Pembrokeshire, and are currently seeking a HSE Officer to join their busy team.
Job Description/ The role:
- The HSE Officer is responsible to be successful in their role and must have a clear understanding of Policies, Procedures and the Company Objectives in order to implement and comply with them.
- Responsible for the field verification, of all areas of Health, Safety and Environmental (“HSE”), the HSE Officer assists in ensuring compliance with the company policies and procedures and relevant legislation.
- The HSE Officer is also responsible for assessing and implementing improvement strategies to strength the health and safety performance of the terminal.
- The HSE Officer acts as the main contact for all areas of the business for HSE related matters and focuses on personnel and process safety, behavioural based safety, environmental management, workplace hazards, risk assessments and verifying appropriate safety controls are in place, as well as advising and supporting the business on Incident prevention.
- The HSE Officer will be incident investigation trained and conduct incident and near miss investigations are required.
- The HSE Officer will also play a role in the terminals on call emergency response.
- The HSE Officer will act as SME (Subject Matter Expert) for key subjects as required
What we need from you/ requirements/ what you will have :
- Significant experience within a Health & Safety role or a role with significant experience of safety leadership
- Thorough knowledge on safety regulations, standards, procedures etc. and Permit to Work systems
- Broad knowledge of operations within an Oil & Gas terminal preferred
- Experience of carrying out incident reporting/risk assessments
- Experience of incident t investigations, inspections and audits
- Applied knowledge of UK Regulatory HSE framework
- Knowledge of ISO 14001 requirements for Environmental Management Systems
- Experience of preparing and presenting training
- Knowledge of Human Factors
- Experience of Process Safety
- Some experience of leading and supervision would be advantageous.
- Behaviour based safety verifications including STAR and point of work verifications
Preferred Qualifications:
- BSc / MSc /Postgraduate in relevant discipline
- Dip/ NEBOSH Diploma Occupational Health & Safety Management, Environmental Management or similar preferred
- Diploma / Certificate of Professional Competence Occupational Hygiene
- Ideally a member of IOSH or IIRSM or IEMA
- Train the Trainer qualification or similar
- Crane and lifting equipment (LOLER)
- COSHH Assessor trained
